Puccini's Il Trittico
Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre
Il Trittico is a trio of one acts by Puccini. While unrelated in plot, each dealt with different scenarios of death.
As a partial rental from Malabar, I coordinated, designed and built pieces of this design. The challenge was to integrate all garments into a unified look for each of the separate acts. The director and I wanted each opera to have a different feel, and to reflect their intended period. Il Tabarro was dark, dirty and set in 1910. Suor Angelica was crisp and monochromatic, set in a late 17th century convent. As the comedic finale, Gianni Schicchi could be brighter, more patterned and reflect the individual characters of the late Gothic Period.
